Meet the PCTC board:

  • Lucas Weaver

    Interim President

Lucas has been a lifelong New River Valley resident. He discovered mountain bike racing in college and went on to race downhill events at a national level. Lucas enjoys riding steep and challenging terrain and gives plenty of “high-fives” while he’s out on the trails. On occasion, Lucas gets talked into doing a trail run which he enjoys for at least the first few miles. Lucas is always glad to chat about trail design and how it affects user experiences.

  • Todd Priest

    Treasurer

Todd is a VT alum who returned to Blacksburg in 2012. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two daughters. He has been volunteering to maintain local trails since 2014 and part of PCTC board since 2016. His tool of choice is the Travis or metal rake. His favorite local trail is Old Farm/Gateway.

  • Jude Cochran

    Secretary

Another VT alum, Jude has spent much of his life in the New River Valley. Working in local bike and outdoor gear shops during college, he met his wife. Together, they bought a house to stay close to their favorite local riding destinations and community. Jude enjoys riding technical trails and excels at doing tedious rock work when building or maintaining trails.

  • Jordan Chang

    Trail Maintenance Leader

Jordan is a VT alum and physical therapist who fell in love with the mountains and trails of SW Virginia while a student. He enjoys spending time in the mountains whether it be on foot or on a bike and regularly participates in outdoor activities ranging from ultramarathons and backpacking to even a few bike races. Jordan believes in the power of community and is committed to fostering local involvement in the stewardship of our trails and outdoor spaces. He plans to bring his unbridled energy with him to the PCTC and to share his love for the outdoors with others.

  • Kristen Bretz

    Communications

Kristen moved to Blacksburg for graduate school at Virginia Tech and quickly grew to love the area’s incredible trail network. She can often be found somewhere on Brush Mountain doing stream research, running, riding trails, or exploring with her dog and husband.

  • Mike Nelson

    Board Member

Mike Nelson came to love recreating in the areas around Blacksburg during his time as a student at Virginia Tech, which was forever ago. During those younger years he worked summer jobs on trail crews in the New Mexico wilderness and for the National Park Service in Colorado. After grad school he moved across the country and got to sample the trails of the Pacific Northwest. He returned to Blacksburg with his family in 2014 and can now usually be found on or near Brush Mountain. Mike’s trail motto: “Get the water off the trail!”
